| Description | Starting from a real example of data taken from linguistics, we introduce here the elementary notations and definitions of correspondence analysis ( ยงยง 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 ). Those who have considered data tables with some attention know that the relations between numbers are more interesting than the numbers themselves. For this reason, we characterize here each row and each column by its profile which is, in brief, a system of proportions. The chapter ends with the study of the particular case where all the rows (and so also all the columns) are proportional to each other - that is, the profiles do not differ from one another. Obviously, the analysis is then purposeless, but this example gives a term of comparison. Book Name: Correspondence Analysis Handbook |
