| Description | This chapter provides an overview of training interventions that apply task-specific interventions to improve perceptual-cognitive skills. Numerous expert-nvice studies have confirmed that expert athletes possess special perceptual-cognitive skills. Numerous studies have examined the effects of different instructions on the efficacy of perceptual training. Kinematic analyses of club head acceleration revealed a mediation of between-group differences, indicating that a seven-day quiet eye training intervention resulted in a more accurate putter-ball interaction. The results underline the effect of video-based training on perceptual or anticipatory performance in sport and confirm some transfer of the performance gains acquired and measured in the laboratory to real field conditions. Looking at training studies to improve anticipatory and decision-making skills, it is worth noticing that they frequently recruit novices or less-skilled players as participants. Training interventions have frequently been carried out in the laboratory where simulations were presented on a PC or a large screen. Book Name: Routledge Handbook of Sport Expertise |
