| Description | This chapter provides an overview of the changing position of Polish planners against the backdrop of changes in the regulation of spatial planning in Poland. It aims to answer a question: "How do the encounters of young planners with the 'the real world' influence their perspectives and points of view on planning practice and the planning profession"? The position and status of spatial planners in the planning profession in Poland has undergone serious changes following the introduction of new legislation abolishing numerous requirements to becoming a planner and eliminating self-regulation of the profession. In Poland, the transformation from planned economy to a market system changed the spatial planning rules. Some of the interviewees pointed to the erstwhile prestige of the profession as a contributing factor in their choice of a career, while speaking bitterly about the deregulation, which has enabled the entrance of a wide range of new planners to the profession.
