Description	The internet of things (IoT) means embedding everything to form a big network that provides the world with an enhanced level of availability, integrity, accessibility, interoperability, scalability and confidentiality. However, protecting these IoT systems from various security attacks is an inspiring and challenging task. Cybersecurity has become an important topic, to prevent threats like unauthorised network access, leakage of sensitive data and so on. Even though, there are several traditional security schemes (such as cryptography) which cannot be used directly within the IoT systems for several reasons. The IoT is the network of low-end devices that operate at low power and are resource-constrained in terms of computational power, energy, bandwidth and processing power. The aim of this chapter is to provide a brief overview of security issues in the IoT and discuss the possible countermeasures. This work highlights various security mechanisms adopted by IoT services and explores the most emerging IoT communication technology protocols. Further, this work provides new scope to overcome threats and cyberattacks in an efficient and automated manner using computational intelligence technologies.
