| Description | Fuel cells and microturbines are able to produce electricity regardless of weather conditions. The polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEMFC) model developed in this chapter makes it possible to simulate approximately the processes of stopping and starting a fuel cell and incorporates the model of the gas feed mechanism. Supercapacitor is used to power the load during short breaks in the operation of fuel cells. To obtain hydrogen, an electrolyzer is used, the model of which is developed in this chapter. A model of high-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) has also been developed, which is preferred for use in stationary installations as well as in combination with microturbines, forming combined heat and power (CHP) systems. Several models of the single-shaft turbines and power electronic devices for them are developed in this chapter.
