Description	This paper considers four aspects of the 13th-century king's great chamber in Westminster Palace that have been neglected or inadequately treated in earlier studies of the topic: the unique form of the chamber's structure as remodelled in the early 1230s; the nature and scope of the work on the wall-paintings carried out under Henry III and his two successors; the significance of the chamber's bedroom function in relation to the cult of St Edward the Confessor; and the underlying iconographic unity of the paintings.
