| Description | The increasing desire to incorporate mineral fillers in plastic composites is mainly associated with the plastic industry's demand for decreased cost, and enhanced basic properties of plastic products. Among the available plastics, traditional thermoplastics, such as polypropylene (PP), have been reportedly filled with a wide range of mineral fillers. By adding mineral fillers, properties of the polymer matrix can be modified through simple and inexpensive techniques. Among mineral fillers, talc has become one of the important minerals often used in polymers. However, the use of talc is too costly; therefore, the possibility of replacing talc with other mineral fillers like limestone, silica, clay and mica is being widely investigated. Therefore, the characteristics of fillers, which influence the properties of polymer composites, and the various applications of polymer composites filled with different mineral fillers are provided in this study.
