| Description | This study is aimed at investigating the culture-based instructional materials (C-BIM) to trigger students' reading and writing skills viewed from critical thinking skills. This study is categorized as mixed-method using the explanatory sequential design. The data consist of quantitative and qualitative data. The instruments employ reading and writing tests, questionnaires, and interview sheets. The data of reading-writing achievement are computed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Thus, the data of students' and teachers' intercultural awareness and perception on culture-based materials are analyzed using qualitative steps that are analysis, reduction, coding, interpretation, and taking a conclusion. Based on the result of analysis, this study shows that the culture-based instructional materials have a significant effect on students' reading and writing skills. This study offers implications and recommendations for further research and practice in marrying culture-based materials in reading and writing courses. Book Name: Post Pandemic L2 Pedagogy |
