| Description | Weed control continues to be an important aspect in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) production. New technology, such as transgenic herbicide-resistant cotton was a blessing for farmers as it provided simple, flexible, effective and economical weed control options. The phenomenal adoption of this technology resulted in development of many herbicide-resistant weeds. The rise in herbicide resistance has placed the gains made in conservation tillage programs in jeopardy due to the loss one pass over-the-top applications. New technologies, such as the use of drones to scout fields, easy access to weed management solutions on the internet and the availability of new multiple herbicide-resistant (stacked-trait) transgenic crops provide a positive outlook for cotton production. Integration of herbicide-resistant crop technology with other non-chemical tactics is critical in the management of weeds to ensure sustained cotton production. Book Name: Weed Control |
