Description	Computer aided diagnosis (CAD) has exhibited immense potential as a research domain in analyzing significant ailments with precision comparable to that of experienced medical practitioners. Advances in medical imaging have further boosted the efficiency of the process in extending its services to the mass. Recently many advancements in the domain of computer aided diagnosis have been observed due to progress in artificial intelligence and machine-learning-based approaches in assisting medical science. Nevertheless, there are couple of challenges that include collection of reliable data as one of the important aspects in advancement of CAD. The progress in designing advanced image-capturing devices and efficient segmentation techniques is gradually providing usable insights to deal with the limitations. This chapter discusses the significance of computer-aided diagnosis in contemporary times and also discusses the future scope for its diversified applications.
