| Description | In South—West of France, in maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) forest stands, the understorey is often dominated by bracken (Pteridium aquilinum). These stands are intermediate between hygrophilous stands with Molinia caerulea and dry stands with Erica cinerea and Calluna vulgaris. Phytosociological position of such communities is not yet clear. Here is presented a synthetical phytosociological table of a set of such bracken stands. The main outcomes are i) a low level of floristic richness, ii): this community is derived from Arrhenathero thorei—Ericetum ciliaris (regional mesic heathland community) by anthropic effects and belongs to the sub—alliance of Ulici minoris—Ericenion cinereae. |
