Description	The restructuring of health care services is occurring at an increasing rate. Among those most common are the types known as vertical integration, illustrated by the development of psychiatric services within acute care settings. These restructured psychiatric services have implications for psychiatric care and nursing. In some instances, they raise ethical issues. The purpose of this article is to explore ethical issues in restructuring of psychiatric services and to offer suggestions for retaining quality nursing care.
