| Description | This paper is an attempt at reviewing the issue of resource sharing in Africa. It provides a general overview of the principle of resource sharing and identifies various obstacles to its application such as political, cultural, social, economic and legal problems. Possible solutions to these problems are suggested which include the need for African librarians to appreciate the importance of resource sharing and the establishment of a task force to initiate and develop a system for sharing information and resources in the region. African librarians should also take advantage of regional organisations such as the Organisation of African Unity (O.A.U.) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to provide the legal and governmental support for resource sharing. The writer concludes that despite the seemingly numerous problems, resource sharing has a future in Africa. Book Name: Vendors And Library Acquisitions |
