| Description | Carlotta has been a much-admired queer celebrity and advocate in Australia for over 50 years. This chapter analyses an interview I conducted with Carlotta, applying standpoint theory to argue she has a queer celebrity standpoint and is a queer 'outsider within' Australian celebrity culture. I contend Carlotta has an especially compelling comprehension of her own social positioning and conditional acceptance as a queer Australian celebrity. This chapter also interrogates problematics of celebrity interview as a research method, finding interviewing a queer national celebrity can help remedy these and uncover important insights into the impacts and experiences of queer celebrities.
