| Description | Danish agriculture is an important supplier of agricultural products to world markets. The main part of the export is animal products originating from domestic production and traded, for a large part, by cooperative processing and marketing firms owned and controlled by farmers. Primary agriculture thus holds a central position in the Danish food sector as farmers have the ultimate responsibility for the management of their cooperative associations. The competitive position of the food sector, therefore, strongly depends on the performance of primary agriculture and of the ability of farmers to adapt to changes in the economic and political environment.
