Making school more visible to parents: an evaluation of the Harbinger Video Project

| Description | This chapter describes and evaluates a project that aimed to increase parental understanding of school through the use of video. Evaluation is seen as the 'attribution of worth' (Hamilton, 1976) - a complex process which incorporates the experiences and viewpoints of all involved in a project and is sensitive to unintended as well as intended effects. Evaluations of school-based projects sometimes lack the views of those most closely involved at the cutting face. The chapter is mindful of this shortcoming and is biased towards the inclusion of data from the school staff. Book Name: Home-School Work in Britain |
