| Description | Collapse behavior for hydrostatic and oedometer soil tests is simulated using a matric-stress critical state model. The model includes groundwater flow and elastoplastic soil constitutive relationships and is formulated in terms of fluid head and net stress plus matric stress, where matric stress is the stress generated by matric suction. An example simulation for a hydrostatic collapse test wetted from the top is presented. Model results show reasonable qualitative agreement with an oedometer collapse test wetted simultaneously from the top and bottom. Book Name: Unsaturated Soils for Asia |
