| Description | A numerical model for the space stability analysis of jointed and faulted rock is given, based on the limit equilibrium state theory. A chosen space failure body is discretized by prismatic rigid members or blocks. Each of these members must be in equilibrium with a chosen direction and magnitude of unknown reactive forces, which depend on mobilized friction and/or on shear strength. The problem is in general highly statically indeterminate, so we have to enforce certain assumptions and then solve it by using interactive and iterative algorithm of program TRISTA.
