| Description | In July 2018, Sharon Heal, in her Director's Blog for the Museums Association UK noted the work of Museum as Muck as exposing the lack of diversity in the workforce of museums. This chapter will be written in the form of a conversation, substantiated by references where appropriate, between Adele Chynoweth and Michelle McGrath concerning the work of Museums as Muck. This is a network for working-class museum and gallery professionals. Defining class can be difficult but for the purposes of the network, 'working class' is a defined as those employees who come from a background with low social, economic and cultural capital. Museums as Muck also considers the working class as intersectional. The network can be a way to make connections across the sector, a support group, a place to share experiences and barriers and release frustrations or even a platform for change. Museums as Muck organises regular face-to-face meet-ups across the UK, has a confidential online forum and instigates interventions. This chapter will ensure not only that the voice of advocacy will be included in the volume but will also extend the analysis to include the crucial concern of working-class museum employees in addition to exhibited representation and visitor access.
