| Description | Even though many design efforts have been made to accomplish occupants' environmental comfort and wellbeing, while enhancing the aesthetic effects of architecture, erroneous design outcomes have been frequently reported in modern buildings, regardless of the design intention. This chapter introduces a principle for a performative design process as a function of scientific and technological approaches. A comprehensive post-occupancy evaluation (POE) project is adopted to discuss how a conventional POE, with a qualitative approach, has evolved with the integration of technical components that help quantify the impact of design on human comfort and environmental performance. Also, the simulation of building performance is discussed to explain the principle of an evidence-based performance design process. By reviewing the intellectual merits of these two innovative project parameters, this chapter highlights how to establish a performative design process that is based on technical evidence generated by advanced research components.
