| Description | In Chapter 2 we presented distributed algorithms for finite element analysis of large structures. In this chapter we present the implementation and performance evaluation of the algorithms on a network of workstations. Key to the success of the next generation of FE analysis software with advanced capabilities such as parallel processing is the development of interactive user interfaces, graphical pre- and post-processing and performance monitoring tools. In this book, a common class of object-oriented data structures has been developed for generation and display of data distribution among the workstations and inter-process communication scheme. The resulting algorithms are robust and versatile and can process FE models consisting of a mix of various types of elements distributed in any arbitrary topology.
