| Description | The synthetic sex pheromone blend of the Sesamia nonagrioides Lef. was evaluated under field conditions. An efficient trap and the optimum pheromone concentration for field attraction were established. A pilot project to suppress insect population by the mass trapping method was initiated during 1986. First year results indicated that ten pheromone traps per ha suppressed insect populations and crop damage in the early-sown crop remained at low levels. In the late corn crop, although male captures in the pheromone traps were low, the infestation of the stems and spadices increase and crop damage reached 30%. Book Name: Integrated Crop Protection |
