| Description | This chapter argues that corporate citizenship has several 'faces' that the moral leader must understand for effective leadership. The key is understanding the essential elements of corporate citizenship and providing the moral leadership for this understanding to be implemented in practice. Leadership theory and research has been more centred on accomplishing organisational objectives through people, with the emphasis more on instrumental means and ends than on the morality, ethicalness or righteousness of the means and ends. Immoral management, or leadership, is a posture or approach that is devoid of ethical principles and precepts and is actively opposed to what is moral. The amoral management model of leadership is a posture or approach that is devoid of ethics, that is, it is a model that does not factor the ethical dimension into decision-making and practice. Writers and researchers have been attempting to distinguish between managers and leaders, or between management and leadership. Book Name: Perspectives on Corporate Citizenship |
