| Description | This chapter provides an overview of the research relating to Quiet Eye (QE) and golf. It highlights a range of evidence that suggests that the QE is an important factor in accurate and consistent putting. It also provides some practical information regarding ways in which the QE technique can be applied to one's own game. The chapter examines a case that accurate golf putting is underpinned by the QE gaze strategy, and this seems to reflect efficient control of attentional, physical, and psychological systems. It takes mental 'energy' to consistently use a QE strategy – especially when anxious and more likely to make mental errors. The chapter shows how QE training (QET) can best affect the teaching and coaching of golfing skills. In particular, if this research is to influence golf coaching and performance, then methods of delivery that do not require the use of expensive eye tracking technology need to be developed.
