| Description | In recent years, individuals have not only presented their lives online but also increasingly commemorated the deaths of loved ones. From purpose-built memorial websites to “legacy” social media profiles, such as Facebook pages of the deceased, death narratives now have a significant online presence. This chapter reflects on my experience of studying a digital obituary project, In Memory Of, hosted by the Australian Broadcasting Company. In doing so, I consider how methods and ethics are entangled in this online context, especially with regards to issues of privacy, and I propose questions researchers might ask when working with online death narratives.
