Description	Parental involvement in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) is an important task to promote children's development and well-being, and there is a growing interest in the topic around the world. This chapter discusses the Danish ECEC model and parental involvement in ECEC in Denmark. It aims to show the intentions in Danish steering documents for ECEC and parental involvement and how it is implemented in preschool teachers' education in Denmark, how parental involvement is facilitated and how it can be improved. Content analysis was conducted on steering and policy documents regarding Danish ECEC, steering documents for preschool teacher education and how parental involvement is expressed in the documents. The study investigates parental involvement using Epstein's six types of school-family-community involvement interactions (parenting, communication, volunteering, learning at home, decision-making and collaboration with the community. Findings show that all types were represented in the data and that the Danish steering documents have a strong focus on parental involvement and collaboration between parents and pedagogues and recent strengthened legislation has presented new stipulations that focus on the collaboration. A new theme emerged in the data; – Improving – a collaboration with parents and community to improve the educational environment in cooperation.
