| Description | Total extract of Wilhania coagulans shows depression of the motor activity of rats, rabbits and dogs. It potentiates the Nembutal sleeping time in mice. The total extract shows hypotensive effect and stimulated respiration. The hypotensive effect seems to be due to a direct action on the cardiovascular musculature. The stimulation of respiration seems to be due to a central stimulant action. The total extract relaxes the smooth muscle and seems to be antispasmodic, which is more evident on neurotropic spasm than musculotropic. Mice tolerated dose upto 8 g/kg when injected intraperitoneally. Der Gesamtextrakt von Withania coagulans bewirkt eine Depression der motorischen Aktivität bei Ratten, Kaninchen und Hunden. Er verstärkt bei Mäusen die Nembutal–Schlafzeit. Weiterhin zeigt er eine hypotensive Wirkung und Stimulation der Atmung. Der hypotensive Effekt scheint auf einer direkten Einwirkung auf die cardiovasculare Muskulatur, die Steigerung der Atmung auf einer zentralstimulierenden Wirkung zu beruhen. Weiterhin scheint der Gesamtextrakt antispasmotisch zu wirken. Mäuse ertrugen eine interperitoneale Injektion von 8 g/kg. |
