| Description | The core structure of elliptical galaxies is determined by two parameters: total luminosity L and central luminosity density $ρ_{C}$. Scatter in $ρ_{C}$ at any L may imply dissipational formation of core structure; once this scatter is accounted for, however, the pure L dependence of the core parameters can be isolated and perhaps used as a metric distance indicator. |
