Abstract	Periodontal diseases are characterized by pathological destruction of extracellular matrix (ECM) of periodontal tissues. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a significant part of the degradation of ECM. However, the regulation of MMPs expression level in periodontal diseases is as yet undetermined.
