| Description | Aim: The rapid application of telephone and videoconferencing therapy during the COVID-19 pandemic presented an opportunity to assess its benefits, drawbacks and potential service changes from a client perspective. Method: This study gathered data from eight clients from a London secondary care mental health service via a semi-structured interview which was analysed using thematic analysis. Results: Thirteen themes were identified. Remote therapy was met with gratitude, underpinned by greater convenience and specific advantages, resulting in high acceptability. Conversely, clients highlighted those changes to delivery and issues of inequality resulting in a sub-optimal medium for therapy. Discussion: Suggested service adjustments were presented with a view to optimising remote therapy for both the COVID-19 pandemic and future applications. |
