| Abstract | This paper presents a design of an automatic gain control (AGC) system including a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) which can be applied in the GPS/BDS dual system compatible receiver. The proposed design is fabricated based on SMIC 0.18 μm CMOS process. PGA works under 1.8 V supply with 3.5 mW power consumption. Gain control range is from −12 to 47 dB by 1 dB gain step. The PGA achieves a 3 kHz to 48.8 MHz bandwidth and an output 1-dB compression point higher than −12.1 dBm in the whole range of gain. The AGC achieves more than 50 dB dynamic range with stability of less than 4.72 dB for GPS and 6.35 dB for BDS. |
