| Abstract | A study of the infrared spectra of Na, U, Pb, and Ag perxenates was conducted to understand the Xe-- O bonding properties in these compounds. All the spectra show an intense band in the 850 to 880 cm-1 region, which may be identified with the nu 3(fiu) vibration of the octahedral [XeO6] grouping. The possible structures of xenate and perxenate ions and compounds are discussed. |
