Abstract	Les données sur la taille se rapportent uniquement aux individus âgés de 20 à 49 ans : jusqu’à 20 ans, la croissance peut encore se poursuivre, et à partir de 50 ans, le corps commence à se tasser. La taille mesurée est préférée à la taille autodéclarée, les déclarants ayant tendance à surestimer leur stature (Gorber et al., 2007). Le biais introduit par l’autodéclaration varie selon l’âge, le sexe, le niveau d’études, la méthode de conduite des entretiens et la finalité de l’enquête (Cavelaars et al., 2000). À en croire les données issues d’une étude récente, la surestimation moyenne de la taille, telle qu’elle ressort des données autodéclarées par les hommes et femmes adultes, est de l’ordre d’1 cm dans les deux cas (Gorber et al., 2007). Lorsque c’était possible, les données ont été tirées directement d’enquêtes officielles spécialisées sur la santé.
