Abstract	Ce chapitre, qui commence par une analyse du rôle important du secteur manufacturier, estime les taux de croissance de la productivité dans plusieurs industries manufacturières clés de quelques pays à revenu intermédiaire. La seconde section examine comment instaurer un environnement plus concurrentiel pour les entreprises, susceptible de doper la productivité manufacturière dans les pays à revenu intermédiaire. La section suivante étudie les mesures ciblées visant à renforcer la compétitivité au niveau des entreprises. La dernière section du chapitre traite de l’efficacité énergétique et de l’efficacité carbone en tant que dimensions supplémentaires de la compétitivité qui ne sont pas toujours internalisées par les entreprises. Le chapitre utilise de multiples indicateurs de la compétitivité pour mieux décrire la performance des entreprises.
