| Abstract | Avant les attentats terroristes du 11 septembre 2001, l’activité au Royaume-Uni s’était déjà ralentie depuis le milieu de 2000 en raison d’un manque de dynamisme e la demande extérieure et d’une contraction de l’investissement des ntreprises. Cependant, la décélération était moins marquée qu’aux États-Unis et dans la zone euro. Si l’on place ces évolutions dans une perspective historique plus générale, on est frappé par la faible amplitude du cycle économique actuel, malgré une série de chocs tels que la flambée des prix du pétrole, l’affaiblissement de la demande étrangère et, à l’intérieur, des pluies particulièrement abondantes, des accidents ferroviaires et une grave épizootie de fièvre aphteuse. Une autre particularité majeure, qui n’est pas sans analogie avec les États-Unis, tient au contraste entre l’élan acquis par la consommation et le freinage extérieur, imputable au moins partiellement à la fermeté du taux de change. Ce tableau est l’inverse de celui du milieu des années 90. Une autre grande différence par rapport à cette époque réside dans le niveau peu élevé du chômage déclaré et la persistance d’un faible taux d’inflation. Pour la période à venir, les incertitudes grandissent par suite de l’attaque terroriste aux États-Unis et il est probable que l’activité va s’affaiblir encore dans le court terme. Cependant, dès lors que les incertitudes actuelles se dissiperont, et à la faveur de la stimulation monétaire et budgétaire en cours, la croissance devrait se raffermir d’ici au milieu de l’année prochaine, à moins que les déséquilibres de l’économie ne se corrigent brusquement. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
