Abstract	Public expenditure on education as a percentage of total public expenditure indicates the value placed on education relative to other public areas of investment, such as health care, social security, defence and security. It provides an important context for the other indicators on education expenditure, particularly for Indicator B3 (the public and private shares of educational expenditure) and is the quantification of an important policy lever in its own right.
