| Abstract | 91 Le Botswana est aujourd’hui salué pour sa croissance remarquable et la prudence de sa politique macro-économique. Au cours des 35 dernières années, ce pays qui comptait parmi les moins avancés, avec 90 pour cent de la population vivant d’une agriculture souvent soumise aux aléas de la sécheresse et un revenu par habitant de 360 dollars environ, est devenu un pays à revenu moyen, dont 50 pour cent de la population active travaille dans le secteur formel. Il s’agit d’une petite économie dotée d’importants gisements de diamants, et dont la bonne gouvernance a permis de mettre les ressources au service de la croissance et du développement. Le Botswana continue de mettre en place des réformes et des mesures visant à renforcer et à diversifier son économie, afin qu’elle ne soit plus dépendante de la production de diamants. Depuis quelques décennies, il affiche une croissance économique soutenue : le PIB réel a enregistré une progression de 9.2 pour cent, en 2000/01. On estime que la croissance s’est ralentie, à 5.1 pour cent environ en 2001/02, et devrait s’établir à 6.1 pour cent en 2002/03, principalement parce que la production de diamants devrait atteindre un palier. En outre, la croissance sera freinée par les effets de la pandémie de VIH/sida. Malgré ses performances économiques remarquables, et plusieurs initiatives relatives au bien-être social et à la mise en place de filets de protection sociale, ce pays souffre d’un des taux d’infection par le VIH/sida les plus élevés du monde… |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
