Abstract	Le secteur ferroviaire a fait l’objet d’une réforme fondamentale en 1994. La compagnie ferroviaire publique ouest-allemande, la Deutsche Bundesbahn, a été consolidée avec l’ancienne entreprise ferroviaire est-allemande et restructurée avec le nouveau statut de société anonyme publique. La réforme avait pour objet de donner à la société nouvellement établie, la Deutsche Bahn AG, une orientation plus commerciale et d’introduire la concurrence. L’économie ouverte a ainsi été introduite sur le marché ferroviaire de fret et le marché ferroviaire de voyageurs sur long parcours.
