Abstract	Le secteur de l’eau tunisien est confronté à une détérioration continue des infrastructures et des performances des services, ainsi qu’à des difficultés croissantes de financement. Ces difficultés sont amplifiées par la raréfaction des ressources en eau et une mise en valeur déjà prononcée, ce qui rend les investissements à entreprendre plus coûteux. Les solutions de transfert des ressources en eau du nord vers le sud ont montré leurs limites. Les solutions technologiques vers lesquelles le pays pourrait se tourner, et notamment le recours à des sources non conventionnelles, sont coûteuses. Les opérateurs montrent des signes d’essoufflement et font face à des défis financiers importants en raison de l’augmentation des coûts, du faible niveau des tarifs et des redevances, et de la demande soutenue pour des services de qualité. La gouvernance du secteur, fondée sur une forte centralisation des responsabilités et du pouvoir décisionnaire, montre aussi ses limites.
