| Abstract | Ce chapitre présente la relation entre le choix des jeunes de poursuivre leur scolarité ou d’intégrer le marché du travail, d’une part, et leurs compétences en compréhension de l’écrit et l’accroissement de celles-ci, d’autre part. Les jeunes ayant terminé des études universitaires ont généralement obtenu des résultats élevés à l’étude PISA-15 lorsqu’ils étaient âgés de 15 ans et possèdent toujours une bonne longueur d’avance à l’âge de 24 ans sur leurs pairs qui ont choisi un autre parcours. Les jeunes n’ayant pas poursuivi d’études post-secondaires continuent pourtant d’acquérir des compétences en compréhension de l’écrit après l’âge de 15 ans – ils acquièrent d’ailleurs celles-ci à un rythme semblable ou plus rapide que celui des jeunes diplômés universitaires. En revanche, l’expérience professionnelle ne semble jouer qu’un rôle secondaire dans l’accroissement des compétences après l’âge de 15 ans. D’autres périodes de transitions, telles que le départ du foyer parental et le mariage, font aussi l’objet d’un examen. Le rôle de l’autodétermination active semble être un facteur important pour expliquer les écarts d’accroissement de compétences tout au long de ces transitions de vie. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
