Abstract	La Nouvelle politique régionale (NPR) de la Suisse met l’accent sur la promotion de l’innovation dans l’ensemble du pays. Le présent chapitre procède à une analyse critique du cadre actuel défini par les politiques d’innovation aux niveaux fédéral et régional. Sont examinés dans un premier temps les instruments mis en oeuvre à l’échelle fédérale, ainsi que le rôle qu’ils pourraient avoir à l’appui de l’innovation dans les régions. Le chapitre évalue ensuite l’état d’avancement des initiatives de promotion de l’innovation au plan régional, notamment celles qui peuvent bénéficier de la NPR, en analysant plus particulièrement le cas de la Suisse orientale. Il s’achève sur les principales difficultés auxquelles se heurte l’élaboration de politiques d’innovation, dans les régions suisses et pour ces régions, puis formule des recommandations quant aux initiatives que les autorités devraient prendre afin de permettre une meilleure articulation entre les politiques et les instruments mis au point au niveau de la Confédération et des cantons.
