Abstract	Entre 2000 et 2008, la croissance économique de la Grèce s’est poursuivie à un rythme soutenu, de plus de 4 % par an en moyenne. Le PIB par habitant a augmenté pour atteindre un niveau proche de la moyenne de l’OCDE Europe. L’adoption de l’euro en 2001 et les grands travaux entrepris à l’occasion des Jeux olympiques d’Athènes de 2004 ont été deux des principaux moteurs de cette croissance économique. La Grèce a aussi bénéficié d’importants apports de fonds de l’UE, qui l’ont aidée à moderniser et développer ses réseaux d’infrastructures (transports, énergie et eau, par exemple), à renforcer sa compétitivité et valoriser ses ressources humaines, ainsi qu’à réduire les disparités régionales. La Grèce se caractérise par une économie ouverte, une base industrielle relativement restreinte et une production industrielle stable. Les secteurs du tourisme et du bâtiment, qui représentent respectivement 18 % et 8.5 % du PIB, y jouent un rôle important et croissant. La Grèce possède par ailleurs une longue tradition en matière de transport maritime.
