Abstract	This small book is one of the best outlines of the subject of arthritis for the public. It was written by a doctor well qualified to present the subject. The introduction is by R. Garfield Snyder, a clinician who devotes nearly all his time and effort to the study and control of arthritis. Snyder says that in the majority of cases arthritis is curable and practically always can be brought under control. Both statements are wide open for discussion. Most clinicians wish these statements were true. The book was written with a twofold purpose: to tell the patient how to cooperate with his doctor in making life as easy and pleasant as possible while under treatment, and to help the busy doctor who has little time, especially in these days, and help the patient get the most out of life. A few of the chapters discuss the prevalence of arthritis
