| Abstract | Fine-particle fluorescent Al oxide materials like $Cr3^{+-}$doped $\alpha-Al_2O_3$ (ruby), $MgAl_2O_4 LaAlO_3, Y_3A_{l5}O_,$ and $Ce3^{+-}$doped $Y_3A_{l5}O_$, $LaMgAl_O_, CaAl_O_$, and CeMg$Al_O_$ were prepd. by the combustion of the corresponding metal nitrate-Al nitrate-urea carbohydrazide mixts. at 500À in 5 min. Formation of these $Cr3^{+-}$ and $Ce3^{+-}$doped Al oxides was confirmed by their characteristic x-ray diffraction, color, UV-visible and fluorescence spectra, and decay-time measurements. Ruby $(Cr^{3+-}\alpha-Al_2O_3)$ powder showed characteristic excitation bands at 406 and 548 nm and emission band at 695 nm with the decay time of 3.6 ms. |
