| Abstract | Short-circuit faults and asymmetrical power production and consumption result in the appearance of unbalanced voltages. The change in voltage profiles could result in grid-connected converter's overcurrent protection triggering if power references are kept at the pre-disturbance level. This study provides a framework for current references calculation that can result in virtually any active and reactive power profiles that are within the domain of the converter's physical capabilities. This is accomplished by introducing three references calculation algorithms, which are all based on the same underlying concept. The first algorithm gives the grid operator the option to choose to prioritise the production of either active or reactive power and to curtail the power production only to the extent that converter's current ratings are not surpassed. Simultaneously, the oscillations in one of the powers are managed. The second approach also provides power production prioritisation feature, but here power production is realised through adjustable ratio between positive and negative current components. The third scheme is an enhancement of the previous two schemes and allows for the constant power factor to be produced before and during the disturbances. Distribution network model emulated in the hardware-in-the-loop environment was used for the validation of proposed solutions. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
