| Abstract | Microwave technology plays a vital role in diagnostics and detection of different blood viruses. The technology presented here is a micro immunosensing diagnostic assay known as “Microstrip Cavity Resonator Biosensor (MCRB)”. It is mainly based on the very specific immune reaction between antigen and antibody. The proposed method depends on the fact that the electrical properties of the liquid, i.e. water, blood, etc., as dielectric constant, electrical conductivity and resistivity are changed due to the existence of viruses, their antibodies and/or their antigens. These changes are reflected into change of electrically measurable parameters as reflection coefficient, input impedance and resonance frequency of the cavity resonator of the biosensor. The sensor will distinguish among normal sample and infected sample layer with antigen/antibodies embedded. This paper presents the preliminary, modeling, and characterization of microwave immuno-sensor to detect enteroviruses in reconstituted serum samples probed with different enterovirus concentrations. The sensor is mainly circular microstrip patch antenna with proximity coupling feed. The studies of the change of electrical properties of reconstituted serum samples are presented at Bluetooth frequency band 2.4 GHz. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
