| Abstract | Fade and interfade duration are important dynamic aspects of path attenuation corresponding to the time length during which a fixed threshold is exceeded by path attenuation or it is below the level. Precise estimation these dynamic parameters is essential to be taken into account in wireless communication system design for several reasons like calculating the system outage or unavailability period, sharing the system resource during the fading events, apply fade mitigation techniques, select the right coding scheme etc. In this paper we are presenting a digital model with N-state partitioned Markov chain for the joined statistical prediction of the fade and interfade duration. A new method introduced to derive the parameter set from the separate digital model of fade and interfade duration Markov models. The joint model applies the steady state probabilities to derive the joint state transition probabilities. The parameterization is based on a measurement of a high frequency terrestrial radio link. To achieve this goal, in the fading model parameterization process beside the fade events we take into account also the interfade periods, likewise in the interfade modelling. This allows a more precise description of the fading and non-fading process and leads to the possibility of the joint fade-interfade duration modelling. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
