Abstract	The influence of Electromagnetic Bandgap (EBG) structure on signal transmission has been investigated in this paper. The signal integrity in time domain and frequency domain is analyzed by S parameters and eye diagrams. The simulation results show that the signal reflection and filter are induced by periodic structure, when a single line crosses the power/ground plane, signal quality is affected seriously. Switching to differential pairs, the signal quality is improved to a certain extent. Finally, locally loading the EBG structure, not only optimizes the signal quality, but also effectively restrains the simultaneous switching noise (SSN).
