| Abstract | The static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) can improve the static and dynamic voltage stability of the bus on power system and keep the voltage of the electric network in the receivable operating mode. STATCOM can also improve the system damping and restrain effectively the oscillation. The paper linearized the nonlinear state equations of STATCOM by the exact linearization method of the nonlinear control theory and obtained the linearized state equations , then computed the closed-loop dominant poles according to the system performance index in time domain and utilized the Ackermann algorithm to work out the state feedback matrix. Control input signals of pulse width modulation (PWM) could be obtained by the computation, which controlled the devices of the power electronics conduction or shutoff. The paper expressed the simulation results of power system dynamical process that three-phase grounding fault happened in the load-bus side of one infinite-system and power load with STATCOM. STATCOM operated under the state feedback control and the general proportional integral control (PI control) respectively. At last, the two results were compared and analyzed and it was evident that the state feedback controller based on the state equations linearized exactly could realize the anticipative demand and realize the voltage support effectively. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
