| Abstract | The realization of an FH-SSMA (frequency-hopping spread-spectrum multiple-access) communication system useful for 16 mobile subscribers within an area of 5 miles diameter is considered. The subscriber's information is digitized with the help of a CVSD (continuously variable slope detector) codec at the rate of 16 kb/s which is sent through a 4/16 orthogonal encoder giving coded data of rate 64 kb/s. The subscriber's address is chosen by a 4-bit binary code which in turn selects the address signal to be generated. The data are BFSK (binary frequency-shift keying)-modulated in such a way that the data bit and the 4-bit address will together select the frequency of the synthesizer giving out the frequency-coded address signal with modulation. Using noncoherent FH-BFSK techniques at the receiver, FH code acquisition and tracking are obtained. The entire system for 16 mobile subscribers occupies 2.4 MHz bandwidth for two-way communication. The receiver performance is represented by a P/sub e/ (probability of error) of 10/sup -3/. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
